I had the BEST experience at Urban Roots Salon! Ally was so professional and took the time to explain everything to me—from why achieving the lighter tones and highlights I originally wanted would take multiple sessions, to helping me pivot to a darker look (Nick’s idea 😉)… and I am OBSESSED with how it turned out!
She was incredibly knowledgeable about the condition of my hair, explaining how dry and brittle it had become and exactly what I needed to do to bring it back to life. I appreciated that I never felt pressured to buy anything, but I ended up loving the products so much that I grabbed them anyway!
My hair now feels unbelievably soft, smooth, and healthy—no more brittle, oily feel 🙌 This appointment truly motivated me to stay on top of my hair care, and I’m so happy I found Urban Roots. Definitely my new go-to! ✨

Oh my gosh Alcion is the sweetest not only does she give great cuts she is such a cool person. If you want a hair dresser who will also be your bestie go here. When I moved to Rolla I had a hard time finding a stylist that made me feel comfortable. I was recommended by a friend to Alicion. Now me and my boyfriend have been going to her for around a year. Alcion has been the most amazing stylist. She is accommodating and understanding. She genuinely cares for her clients in all aspects of their life.

We always leave with exactly what we asked for (and sometimes more with her amazing products recommendations). It’s amazing all that she can do as a one woman show owning her own business. She’s our favorite!

I have very fine and wavy hair ~ it truly has a mind of its own.

But Alcion has helped me get my confidence back. I appreciate her willingness to always listen and address whatever is going on about how I feel with my hair. From phenomenal shades of new color to epic layers during haircuts, I walk away from every appointment feeling like a rock star.

I especially appreciated the preparation for my sisters wedding. With a longer style and special color for the big day, I truly felt like a fairy godmother (I am 24 years older than my sis).

Blessed to have Alcion as my stylist and “hairapy” support specialist.

Alcion is an amazing hairstylist. I’ve gotten cut and color and every time she knocks it out of the park. Being a redhead, she never ask me are you sure when I want to do a different color and I love that. If I want to go short she says “I love it” and starts cutting. She is the best and comes highly recommended from myself and all her other clients. She goes above and beyond to give you want you want or may need when it comes to hair. You’ll feel like family anytime you sit in her chair.

Absolutely will never step foot back into this place, walked in to ask if Alcion was available for 2 styles and was immediately interrupted with “I’m having a baby and it’s just me. I went on to say gosh girl, I don’t know how you do it…. Pregnant and running a business by yourself…. She then proceeds to look at her watch and say “it’s such short notice I’m not sure anybody will be able to get you in” and I bought a building and I work, that’s how I do it” I asked her if the date that I needed was her due date and she said yes then in the next breath said that was her baby shower day and she was booked that week and that day and was already booked for her Christmas dates. Sorry that it inconvienced you for me to walk in to your business but with all do respect, probably should be nice not only to potential customers but others as well. 0/10 customer service.

Alcion is a wonderful person and stylist. She has colored my hair from dark red to bright blonde, to cutting 10 inches off of it, all while making me feel beautiful and keeping my hair healthy. Her salon is modern, extremely clean, and always features a wide array of products.

Alcion has worked miracles on my curly hair. Before moving here, my hair had never known hard water. When I met Alcion, she met my recon mission (my words not hers) of recovering my curls to their former glory head on. 2 years later, this is still the best hair experience I have had!

Recent upgrades to the salon have been done amazingly and it includes a nail salon space (pending nail tech) and esthetician space. I also love that this salon is also now a learning space for those newly out of cosmetology school.

Every time I leave the salon after Alcion does my hair, it honestly feels better than when I arrived. I was used to feeling damage as soon as I left the salon I used to go to and now every single time I leave urbAn rootS, it looks healthy and feels healthy. She goes above and beyond to make sure you feel comfortable in her chair not to mention helping me bring the natural texture I already had alive. I highly recommend getting pampered by her, you won’t regret it!

Walking into Urban Roots, I couldn't help but be amazed by the love and investment Ali has poured into creating such a stunning and nurturing space. It's clear Ali pours her heart into not just the beauty industry but also in fostering the next wave of hairstyling talent at Urban Roots. Everywhere you look, there's evidence of this commitment, from the sleek, modern tools to the comprehensive training programs aimed at equipping aspiring stylists with everything they need to succeed.

However, it's hard not to notice a bit of a disconnect. Despite all these incredible resources and opportunities laid out for growth at Urban Roots, there seems to be a gap in how much the new talents are grabbing hold of these chances. It's a bit of a puzzle—on one hand, you have this incredible environment designed to lift stylists up, and on the other, there's a struggle to see that same drive and commitment mirrored in the trainees. This situation makes me wonder about the challenges of aligning expectations and truly motivating those who are just starting out in such a competitive field.

Ali, with her professionalism and genuine love for her craft, stands as a beacon of what's possible. The services offered are top-notch, meeting the needs of a wide variety of clients with care and precision that's truly admirable. It's this level of dedication and skill that I hope the next generation of stylists will aspire to reach, inspired by the environment and opportunities that have been so thoughtfully provided for them at Urban Roots.

I was very put off by the salon director's attitude, telling ME how my hair should be. My stylist was a gem and I was pleased with the result, however, the salon director made the visit uncomfortable and rather insulting. The director might remember that she doesn't know best. I will NOT return.

Also purchased the new shampoo and conditioner from Paul Mitchell. She carries a lot of the product and can order anything desired.
