Alcion Smith Bandy is the heart behind urbAn rootS, a Paul Mitchell Focus Salon tucked inside a historic 1929 building in downtown Rolla. In 2020, she transformed the space into a calm, modern retreat where guests can step away from the chaos of everyday life and sink into a feeling of quiet luxury.
With over 11 years of ongoing education and a background as a National Educator for John Paul Mitchell Systems, Alcion brings big-city standards to her small-town community. A graduate of Paul Mitchell School, she’s passionate about dimensional color, extensions, and curly cuts, and is known for creating looks that are fully customized to each guest’s lifestyle, goals, and hair health. Every appointment is rooted in education, so guests leave not only loving their hair, but knowing how to care for it at home.
At urbAn rootS, Alcion is intentional about creating a safe, welcoming space for guests from all walks of life. She never double-books, keeps the atmosphere calm and professional, and believes self-care should feel both elevated and approachable. From the wash house experience—with hot towels and fresh cookies—to the finishing touches at the chair, her focus is always on quality over quantity and making every guest feel genuinely seen, cared for, and at home.
